About us

Nicholas Morton is an award-winning landscape designer based in Sussex, working across the South of England and London to create contemporary garden designs that are both beautiful and functional.

His work focuses on crafting outdoor spaces that seamlessly blend a strong architectural structure with naturalistic, immersive planting - ensuring each garden enhances its setting while reflecting the lifestyle and vision of its owner.

From large-scale country estates to intimate city gardens, Nicholas approaches each project by developing a deep understanding of the site, the client's needs, and the relationship between the architecture, surrounding landscape and its environment to develop a bespoke design for his clients.

Whether it’s a calm courtyard retreat, a modernist garden to set off a new building, or a expansive new landscape for a period home, his designs carefully balance form, texture, and planting to create timeless and inviting spaces.

Experience & Expertise

Nicholas trained at the London College of Garden Design, where he was awarded both the Directors Award and the Society of Garden Designers Student Award. After graduating, he honed his skills with some of the UK’s most esteemed designers, including Luciano Giubbilei, Charlotte Rowe, and Arne Maynard. During this time he worked on a wide range of projects, from listed country estates to contemporary urban gardens, collaborating closely with architects, interior designers, and skilled craftspeople to deliver exceptional landscapes.

His work spans outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, swimming pools, kitchen gardens, covered structures, water features, wildflower meadows, woodland planting, and bespoke hardscaping, always ensuring that every detail is considered and every space is tailored to the needs of its owner.

Prior to his career in garden design, Nicholas worked as a management consultant, leading service development projects for companies including Deloitte Consulting, the Design Council, and Unilever. This background has given him a highly structured and professional approach to garden design, ensuring that each project is managed with precision—from concept and planning through to execution and completion.
