Our Full Design & Project Management Service
Our full Design-to-Delivery service begins with meetings to define your goals. We develop ideas with hand sketches, mood boards, masterplans and 3D modelling. Tailoring each detail to your lifestyle and the site. We produce construction, lighting and planting drawings and provide ongoing build support so contractors can quote and construct accurately. We also source furniture, plants and pots from trusted suppliers to complement the garden and offer best value. We manage every stage to deliver your dream garden.
Our Design & Planting Service
In large gardens there may be areas where clients want to develop new ideas, or re-vitalise the design. This service follows the full-design approach but focused on a specific zone. This could be a kitchen garden, a new pool area or an outdoor entertaining space. Or it could be a bespoke planting scheme to take your garden in an exciting new direction. We can provide drawings and work with the client to support them through delivery.
Our Garden Consultation Service
Nicholas also offers Garden Consultations for owners who want expert advice without committing to a Full Garden Design. A one-off visit reviews issues and ideas and can cover design, planting and also practical advice. The consultations are client-led allowing clients to focus on their priorities and to progress their garden at their own pace. It is perfect for those who just need an expert eye and input to help bring their visions to life.

Our Design Process
Initial site meetings define what our clients want to achieve with their outdoor space and the specific site conditions. These early visits allow us to discuss and agree their requirements, at the same time as carrying out a detailed site analysis in order to create an agreed 'Client brief'. Where appropriate we will commission a third-party topographical survey.
Detailed Brief, Survey & Analysis
Based on the brief we use hand drawing, CGI renders, moodboards, masterplans and 3D computer modelling techniques to visualise and refine our proposals. Combined with a materials palette and planting palette to convey the general character of the planting these form an initial Concept Design that is produced and presented to the client. This allows us to present our ideas and discuss potential changes with the client.
Based on the meeting we create a Developed Design including a final landscape Masterplan for approval.
Outline Design
Plant mood boards, showing the proposed plants, and a full planting list are also prepared based on the agreed planting palette. These show all the plants including sizes and quantities and combined with the Planting plan, showing the locations of all the plants, are provided for client approval.
Planting plans & Schedule
As part of the build we are able to source, supply and set out the plants in your garden. Sourcing from specialist nurseries and growers to select specimen trees and plants as well as to provide the best value for the client. We can also create maintenance packs to help clients keep their garden looking its best.
Planting & Maintenance
Based on the approved design we create a layout plan, detailed working drawings (Including walls, paving, pergolas and technical details including outdoor kitchens, pergolas and water features) and specification for construction to ensure that contractors can both quote and build accurately.
Detailed Construction Drawings & Specification
We are able to work with our extensive list of suppliers to select all elements from furniture to pots in order that they both complement the garden and provide the best value for the client. We are able to handle every stage in the process in order that you can have your dream garden delivered.
Styling & Accessories
On approval of the design we can provide a comprehensive service to select a suitable landscape contractor. Either recommending a contractor, running a restricted tender process for multiple contractors to quote or working with a contractor of your choosing.
Once construction is underway we offer the option for site visits to monitor progress on your behalf. The frequency can be agreed on instruction.
